WHY USE HYSEAL?

Concrete, when designed, mixed and placed in accordance with today’s exacting standards, is the world’s most versatile construction material, possessing excellent properties of performance and durability.

In practice however, concrete is exposed to variables during production and placing that can combine with typical design and production practices to increase the permeability of concrete in its hardened state.

The performance, durability and porosity of concrete is directly affected by the care and quality taken in its mixing and use in the first six hours.

Despite the many precautions typically employed in this period, the vast majority of concrete structures are still subject to water penetration, usually as a result of one or more commonly encountered factors:

  • Poor compaction
  • Deformed or badly installed water bar
  • Inadequate curing
  • Shrinkage cracks
  • Settlement or heave

It is not necessary for the structure to leak to still be at risk from water penetration. Deterioration of a structure is rapid when reinforcing steel is exposed to the environment.

The application of Hyseal during the construction or remedial works stage will prevent movement of water in conditions of both NEGATIVE and POSITIVE water pressure. Additionally, Hyseal will provide protection against frost damage and attack from certain chemicals.

Hyseal alters the structure of concrete and ensures permanent waterproofing with maximum resistance to abrasion, erosion and chemical attack thus extending the service life of the structure and reducing maintenance costs.
